Relational Somatic Psychotherapy (Robert Hilton, Ph.D.)
Description
Whether you are a therapist or client, this book is a "must read" if you want to get the most out of your therapeutic life journey. Covering more than 30 years, Robert Hilton's powerful essays explore the dynamics, pitfalls and possibilities of therapeutic and other intimate relationships. The essays are clearly written, replete with numerous personal experiences and therapeutic anecdotes and, without fail, resonate with our deepest human longings and concerns.
Hilton explores the ways therapists and clients, as well as couples and individuals, interact and either add to or all too easily block optimal interactions and healing. Not stopping there, he also explores and clearly shows both therapists and clients how to face and overcome their blocks to optimal outcomes. Finally, written from a somatic perspective, the wisdom in these more than 400 pages applies to all forms of therapy and to all relationships of everyday life. It's a very readable and thought provoking book, well worth the time spent to peruse it.
Robert Hilton is an International Bioenergetics Trainer who studied many years with Dr. Alexander Lowen and other prominent somatic therapists (Stanley Keleman, Clover Southwell, Fritz Perls). He himself has trained or participated in the training of hundreds, if not thousands, of somatic psychotherapists.
