Hilton explores the ways therapists and clients, as well as couples and individuals, interact and either add to or all too easily block optimal interactions and healing. Not stopping there, he also explores and clearly shows both therapists and clients how to face and overcome their blocks to optimal outcomes. Finally, written from a somatic perspective, the wisdom in these more than 400 pages applies to all forms of therapy and to all relationships of everyday life. It's a very readable and thought provoking book, well worth the time spent to peruse it.
Robert Hilton is an International Bioenergetics Trainer who studied many years with Dr. Alexander Lowen and other prominent somatic therapists (Stanley Keleman, Clover Southwell, Fritz Perls). He himself has trained or participated in the training of hundreds, if not thousands, of somatic psychotherapists.

"I never had so much to write about. But until I learned to breathe deeply, I wasn't able to feel - mostly just to think."
Opening Up - The Search for Intimate Love has been just that, what the title states. This book explores the relationships between lovers, their parents and what is passed on. Opening Up, was almost titled Self Exposure. I knew that I would be exposed, embarrassed, rejected, and maybe accepted.
